Commissioner for Oaths Unit

INTRODUCTION

This Unit is placed under direct supervision of Office of Chief Justice and office of The Chief Registrar Federal Court of Malaysia.This Unit is led by a Head of Unit and assisted by a Senior Assistant Registrar.

Commissioner for Oaths Unit manages the affairs of Commissioner for Oaths throughout Malaysia efficiently, effectively and regulate matters to ensure the effectiveness of Commissioner for Oaths in carrying out their duties.

This Unit also conducts interviews / examinations in appointment of Commissioner for Oaths that contributes to the growth in number of appointed Commissioner for Oaths annually. This indirectly contributes in enhancing the image of the Malaysian Judiciary.

ROLE AND FUNCTION COMMISSIONER FOR OATHS UNIT

Objective

  1. The objective of the Commissioner for Oaths Unit is to manage the affairs of all Commissioners for Oaths throughout Malaysia, in an efficient, competent and organized manner, thus ensuring the effectiveness of duties carried out by a Commissioner for Oaths, which indirectly contributes to the judicial process in Malaysia.

 

Charter

  1. To provide services in accordance with the provisions of the Commissioner for Oaths Rules 2018 and other related directives.
  2. To ensure all stakeholders are treated in a prompt, reasonable, efficient and systematic manner.
  3. To ensure the services offered by the Commissioner for Oaths are performed with integrity.

 

Function

  1. Appointment - To manage all types of appointments of Commissioner for Oaths (Advocate and Solicitor, Public Officer, Officer of a Statutory Body, or Any Other Person).
  2. Re-appointment - To manage the reappointment of any Commissioner for Oaths approved by the Chief Justice of the Federal Court, upon the expiry of the current period of appointment.
  3. Register Records - Supervising and conducting inspection of the Register Books of Commissioners for Oaths throughout Malaysia.
  4. Investigation - To initiate and conduct an investigation, based on complaints made by any member of the public, against any Commissioner for Oaths throughout Malaysia.
  5. Premise - Conducting periodic inspections of Commissioners for Oaths' premises throughout Malaysia.
  6. Management - Managing administrative matters related to Commissioners for Oaths throughout Malaysia.
