INTRODUCTION

 

Library is a branch under the Management Division of the Chief Registrar’s Office of Federal Court Malaysia. This unit is led by a Head Librarian and is assisted by a librarian and nine (9) assistant librarians.

ROLE AND FUNCTION LIBRARY

 

Objektif

  1. To provide a collection of library resources for the use of the Chief Registrar's Office;
  2. To manage and provide easy access to Malaysian and Commonwealth legal information; and
  3. To cultivate a reading culture in the Chief Registrar's Office.

 

SERVICES

 

Reference And Searches Of Information

  • To assist users in obtaining the necessary materials and information. Inquiries can be forwarded directly to the counter service at the library.

 

Updating Legislative Collections

  • Collections of Federal Acts and State Enactments in the library, in the chambers of The Right Honourable Chief Justice, President of the Court of Appeal, Chief Judge of Malaya, Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak, and in the open Courts are updated from time to time. To provide and facilitate searches into the above index.

 

Public Awareness Services

  1. To provide awareness by informing the users about the latest information, books, titles and materials available in the library through the following sources:
    • Library web site
    • The content of the subscribed journals
    • List of libraries' procurements
    • Indexing of selected materials
    • Exhibition of new books
    • Compilation of information provided by the library

 

Newspaper Cutting

  • Newspaper articles relating to judgments and court cases for the Federal Court of Malaysia, the Court of Appeal and the Special Courts and daily reports regarding the Subordinate Courts are kept on a daily basis for use of the Judges and Judicial Officers.

 

Index of Grounds Of Judgment

  • As a resource center for Grounds of Judgment. All grounds of judgment of the Malaysian Federal Court, the Court of Appeal and the High Court are indexed, for ease of reference.

 

Borrowing And Returning

  • This service is limited to officers of the Chief Registrar's Office. However, other users may access the above service under the Consortium of the Publication Supply System.

 

Borrowing Between Libraries

  • The service is limited for officers of the Chief Registrar's Office to borrow books or obtain materials from libraries under the Consortium of Publication Supply System for non-availability material in the Library.

 

Electronic Information

  • Access to online legal databases such as LexisMalaysia, Westlaw Asia & Thom- son Reuters Westlaw, Lawnet, eLaw.my, CLJ Legal Network and Mylawbox.
